In recent months the news has intensified in the media related to climate change and its consequences. No one is no longer alien to the climatic emergency and we all need to take action, also on an individual basis, to help minimize the impact of this irreversible change.
At the last UN climate 2019 summit in New York, it was made public that by the end of this century the average temperature on our planet is likely to increase by a minimum of 2 degrees above the pre-industrial temperature (it has already risen by 1C).
At the end of XXI century, hurricanes, heat waves and torrential rains in latitudes where they are not frequent today will be more common, and the sea level will rise to almost 1 meter on the coasts.
Consequence of all this will be an inevitable change in our lifestyle, as well as the basis of our economy, especially in a country where tourism is one of the main sources of national income. But the radicalization of the climate, with a shortage of rainfall alternating with severe floods will greatly affect agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
Photovoltaics is part of the solution
Given these evidences, more and more people develop an ecological awareness and feel the need to fight against climate change. It seems that more and more Spanish citizens are questioning to have their own installation of photovoltaic self-consumption in their home.
In 2019 there has been a significant increase in photovoltaic self-consumption facilities. The approval last April of the Royal Decree on self-consumption that facilitates its development in a reliable and definitive way has reduced barriers to self-consumption and many companies have begun to move to generate credibility and trust to consumers. This has contributed to the fact that there are more and more relevant actors trying to meet the objectives set by the European Union for the year 2030 in the fight against climate change.
Reasons to install photovoltaic at home
Among the motivations, rational and / or emotional, that influence when betting on the installation of a photovoltaic system are:
Fight actively against climate deterioration
- Fight actively against climate deterioration
- Benefit from savings of up to 80% on the electricity bill
- The revaluation of housing
- Less dependence on energy companies
- Possibility of better managing your own consumption
Apart from the fact that Spanish society is increasingly aware that they live in one of the countries with the most hours of sunshine in the world, so that producing solar energy is cheaper, they have also developed a personal responsibility that leads to act proactively before the inexorable situation of global environmental deterioration.
